Back Pain
In 2009 the NHS National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) issued new guidance recommending acupuncture as one of the treatments of choice for patients with persistent non-specific low back pain.
Acupuncture is now recognized to be an effective and safe treatment for many pain conditions.
Common Complaints include:
-
Lower Back and Hip Pain
-
Sciatica
-
Neck and shoulder pain
-
Frozen shoulder
-
Knee and ankle injuries
-
Carpal Tunnel
-
Pins and needles - Trapped nerves
-
Headaches
-
Sport's injuries
-
Arthritis
Acupuncture can help relieve the pain of Arthritis, relax muscles and with regular treatment prevent further deterioration of the joints.
Treatment
As with other conditions each complaint is assessed on an individual basis and treated according to varying need. This may mean that some people may require, alongside acupuncture, acupressure massage before treatment or would benefit from Moxibustion (heat treatment) or the application of NewLock Oil (subject to permission and allergy check).
Number of Treatments Required
This is dependent on the injury and length of time you have suffered from the problem. Generally people with long term complaints (chronic) will require more treatment than those with new issues. This would be a matter that is discussed at the time of consultation and assessed on specific circumstance.
